Description
In 2008, during the Australian Senate's Inquiry into he Sexualisation of Children in the Media, a Sydney gallery featuring the work of artist Bill Henson was raided, due to allegations of 'child pornography'. The public debate that followed underlined the complexity of an ssue that brings together concerns around representation; commercial media; sexual identity formation; gender; coercion and consent; and the meaning of childhood. This paper explores the framing of the sexualisation debate by Australian lobbyists, commentators and policy-makers.
